Dymph de Gooijer (b.1998)
is a Dutch visual artist based in Amsterdam.
She grew up in the city as well as on the countryside in the North of Holland.
Her work has been exhibited in Museums and Galleries in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom since the age of 16.
Primarily self-taught, she refined her technical foundation through a short course at the Florence academy of art.
Mostly painted from the female perspective, Dymph draws inspiration from exploring the complexity of the human experience. Major life themes, such as finitude, desires and a search for meaning are subjects she repeatedly returns too. However, darker and harder to discuss topics such as abuse and violence are expressed within her work too. Paired with her own emotions, experiences and that of others, Dymph continues to search for honest and shameless ways to explore these topics.
Using the human body, color and symbolic aspects, Dymph attempts to create a bridge between the physical and the emotional realms, wondering if we can reunite these opposites. Leaving room for interpretation she hopes to give the viewer the ability to identify with her work in their own personal way.
